"How do you liberate people by killing them?"

Iraq’s expelled envoy to Britain has spoken of his anger at the "indiscriminate bombing of civilians" by coalition forces. Dr Mudhafar Amin, 59, asked: "Where are the weapons of mass destruction? By bombing a Baghdad market did they expect to find them?" He ridiculed claims that Iraqis would welcome US and British forces as liberators. He said: "It is their country and they will defend it. How do you liberate people by killing them?" Dr Amin, ordered to leave Britain by tomorrow, says he is baffled why Tony Blair joined the military campaign. "I don’t see how it can be in the interest of Britain, " he said. And he claimed Friday’s closure of his small diplomatic mission in Kensington, London, means that Britain’s 60,000-strong Iraqi community has lost its official voice. |
